Two new book projects:
May Woolsey’s Hidden Trunk, a collaboration with the Sacramento History Museum about a girl who died in 1879. 100 years later, a trunk was discovered, hidden within the walls of her former home. In the trunk, now a popular exhibit at the Museum, were about 550 objects, saved by (we assume) her parents. What can we learn about life in post-Gold Rush Sacramento by exploring the items in the trunk?
A biography of the famous Life photographer, Margaret Bourke-White. Bloomsbury Publishing: a series called Women Making History, about extraordinary people. Bourke-White literally had a life that was too unbelievable to be true, but it was. Hopping all over the globe, she pioneered photojournalism and the photo essay.
In addition to “California Sketches” as a freelance Op-Ed contributor the Sacramento Bee, 2011-2019 & 2024, Stephanie has collaborated on three books. She is working on 2 new ones:
